Terms and Conditions

Updated: June 2026

These terms govern your use of the samui-bikes.com website and any vehicle rental you arrange with Samui Bikes on Koh Samui, Thailand. By browsing the site or sending an enquiry, you agree to the terms set out below. Samui Bikes operates from 1/73 Moo 6, Bophut, Koh Samui, Surat Thani 84320, Thailand.

Enquiries, not online bookings

This website is an inventory listing and enquiry service. It does not take payment, confirm a reservation, or form a binding rental contract on its own. Sending an enquiry through our contact form is a request for availability and pricing only.

A rental becomes binding only when we confirm the specific vehicle, dates and price with you directly, and you accept the rental agreement signed at handover. Listed availability and prices are indicative and may change without notice.

Rider eligibility and licensing

You must be at least 18 years old to rent any vehicle from us, and hold a valid driving licence that covers the class of vehicle you wish to ride. Thai law requires an International Driving Permit alongside your home-country licence for motorised vehicles.

Riding without the correct licence is illegal in Thailand, voids all insurance cover, and makes you personally liable for any fine, damage or injury. You are responsible for confirming that your licence is valid before you ride.

Deposit, payment and identification

We may hold a refundable cash deposit or a copy of your passport for the duration of the rental, agreed at the time of booking. We do not retain original passports against your will, and any cash deposit is returned in full when the vehicle is returned undamaged and on time.

Rental charges, delivery fees and any optional extras are confirmed in writing before handover. Late returns may incur an additional day's charge.

Insurance and your liability

Third-party liability insurance is included with every rental as required by Thai law. Optional comprehensive cover for the vehicle itself can be added on request. Insurance does not cover incidents that occur while riding without a valid licence, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or in breach of these terms.

You are responsible for the vehicle while it is in your care and for any excess, damage or loss not covered by insurance.

Using the vehicle safely and legally

Helmets are mandatory by Thai law for the rider and any passenger, and we provide one with every rental. You agree to obey local traffic laws, carry no more passengers than the vehicle is designed for, and not to use the vehicle for racing, off-road abuse beyond its design, sub-letting, or any unlawful purpose.

The vehicle must remain on Koh Samui unless we agree otherwise in writing before your trip.

Breakdown, damage and theft

Every rental includes a 24/7 assistance contact number. In the event of a mechanical breakdown that is not caused by misuse, we will arrange a repair or replacement vehicle at no extra cost as quickly as we can.

You must report any accident, damage or theft to us and to the local police immediately. Failure to obtain a police report where one is required may make you liable for the full replacement cost of the vehicle.

Cancellations and changes

Because no payment is taken through this website, you can change or cancel an unconfirmed enquiry at any time at no cost. For confirmed rentals, the cancellation terms agreed at the time of confirmation apply.

We reserve the right to substitute a vehicle of equivalent or higher specification if your chosen model becomes unavailable, and to refuse or end a rental where these terms are breached.

Liability and governing law

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Samui Bikes is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability in connection with any rental is limited to the rental charges paid for that vehicle. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand, and any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the Thai courts. We may update these terms from time to time; the version published here at the time of your enquiry applies.

How to reach us

If you have any question about these terms or a specific rental, please use the contact page on this website or the assistance number provided with your rental. We aim to respond to every enquiry within one business day.
