At Chaweng last January I set out on the G5 Pro at 7 a.m. with a full charge and returned at 5:30 p.m. after 68 kilometres of coastal riding - north coast, Fisherman's Village, Mae Nam, the west coast junction, back south. Battery at return: 18 per cent. That was the day I stopped treating the G5 Pro as a compromise for eco-conscious riders and started recommending it as a capable daily machine for coastal Samui touring. No other e-scooter in the Samui fleet that day could have completed the same route.
Testing the G5 Pro's build quality last October by riding the same coastal route in heavy Samui rain - the kind that lasts 40 minutes and soaks everything - I found the motor ran without issue, the instrument display stayed legible through the rain, and ABS-assisted braking delivered controlled stops on wet painted surfaces at the Chaweng roundabout. The G5 Pro is IP67-rated for water resistance. On a tropical island with daily wet season rain, that rating is not a certification number in a spec sheet - it is a practical daily requirement.
On Samui's rougher coastal sections - the concrete road joins north of the Fisherman's Village - the G5 Pro's suspension absorbed impacts more completely than the NIU MQi+ Sport I tested on the same route the previous week. The G5 Pro carries longer suspension travel front and rear than most e-scooters in this weight class. On Samui's variable road surfaces, that additional travel is noticeable and prevents the fatigue that shorter-travel e-scooters produce over a full coastal day. Smoothness is the G5 Pro's defining characteristic in the e-scooter category.
At the G5 Pro's limited top speed of 55 km/h on the Chaweng-to-Lamai ring road last February, I was travelling at the same speed as the local scooter traffic - neither impeding the flow nor straining to keep pace. Samui's useful riding speed on beach roads and coastal corridors is 35 to 55 km/h. The G5 Pro operates within this range without ever feeling limited. It is at 80 km/h ring road speeds that the G5 Pro reaches a boundary. For the beach holiday rider who stays on the beach corridor, that boundary is never approached.
Arriving at the Choeng Mon bay car park at dawn last December on the G5 Pro - the only sound from the scooter was the tyre on the concrete - I parked and watched the sunrise over the bay without starting a petrol engine. The absence of exhaust at the parking area, the silent approach to the beach access track, and the motor noise below the sound of the surf once on the sand: these are not abstract environmental benefits. They are the actual experience of arriving at a beautiful Samui location in a way that the location itself rewards.
Five years of promoting eco-travel on Koh Samui, testing every electric scooter available in the rental fleet, and tracking the actual riding experiences of eco-conscious tourists has produced one consistent recommendation at the top of the e-scooter category: the Yadea G5 Pro. Its range matches Samui's coastal riding requirements, its build quality handles the tropical conditions, and its smoothness over a full day makes it a genuine alternative to petrol scooters for riders whose plan stays within the beach corridor. No other e-scooter in the Samui fleet matches all three criteria simultaneously.
