TL;DR

The Myra wins outright on power, range, and ABS safety for confident island-wide riders; the light, silent Yadea G5 Pro wins on value, easy handling, and quiet coastal days - choose island-sized capability, or affordable simplicity.

Two Very Different Electrics Side by Side

I parked the Etran Myra next to the Yadea G5 Pro outside our Bo Phut shop last May, and the contrast was immediate. The Myra is a 7000-watt, ABS-equipped machine with a genuine 180 km range and motorbike pace; the Yadea is a light, silent 2000-watt commuter built for calm coastal days. One is made to conquer the whole island, the other to glide quietly around your corner of it. Choosing between them is really about the kind of Samui rider you are.

Power and Pace on the Ring Road

Riding both up the ring road toward Mae Nam one clear morning, the difference in muscle was stark. The Myra surged into 120 km/h territory and pulled with real authority, while the Yadea settled at a gentle 45 km/h - fine for town, but exposed where the traffic runs fast. If your days include open-road stretches, overtakes, or the hills above Lamai, the Myra keeps you safely with the flow. The Yadea is happiest on quiet lanes and short, unhurried hops.

Range That Shapes the Whole Day

Last season I mapped a southern loop out to Taling Ngam and back, and I would not have started it on the Yadea without a charging stop planned. Its 80 to 100 km covers a full town-and-coast day comfortably, yet the Myra's 180 km dual battery swallows the same route with margin left for a detour. For roaming the whole island in one go, the Myra is the only real choice in this pair. For staying near base and the nearest beaches, the Yadea's range is plenty.

Weight, Handling, and Parking

Here the Yadea answers back. Threading a jammed Chaweng car park one afternoon, the 83 kg Yadea flicked around easily while the far heavier, more powerful Myra wanted deliberate, planted input at walking pace. For nervous riders, short errands, and squeezing into a tight spot by the beach, the Yadea is genuinely the easier machine to manage. The Myra's mass buys stability and confidence at speed, but you feel every kilo of it shuffling backwards out of a parking space.

Safety Net and Running Value

Braking down a damp slope near Na Mueang Waterfall after a September shower, I felt the Myra's rear ABS check the back wheel exactly when I wanted it - a margin the Yadea, with plain discs and no ABS, simply does not offer. But the Yadea answers on cost: it is cheaper to rent, silent, and cheap to run for modest daily distances. The trade is honest - pay for the Myra's power, range, and wet-weather braking, or save with the Yadea's quiet simplicity.

The Right Match for Your Trip

After back-to-back days on both, my verdict is that they suit opposite riders. Choose the Etran Myra if you are confident, want to cover the whole island, value ABS, and will genuinely use its power and 180 km range. Choose the Yadea G5 Pro if you want a light, quiet, affordable e-scooter for coastal cruising and town days close to base. Neither is simply better on Samui - match the machine to your kind of riding and the choice makes itself.
