I rode the Myra to places I would hesitate to reach on a smaller electric - deep into the south past Thong Krut, out to Taling Ngam for sunset, and back to Chaweng after dark, all on one charge last March. The 180 km range unlocks Samui's far corners that defeat shorter-range machines. Where other electrics keep you tethered to the busy east coast, the Myra lets you treat the whole island, south coast included, as a single day's playground.
Running the quiet north coast from Chaweng through Bo Phut, Mae Nam, and on to Nathon last season, the Myra was in its element - open, flowing road with power to spare and range that made the distance meaningless. This loop is my favourite Myra route: scenic, uncrowded, and long enough to enjoy the machine without ever worrying about getting home. For a first big ride on the Myra, the north coast shows exactly why its range and power belong together.
I charge the Myra overnight at my Bo Phut guesthouse, every time, and recommend renters do the same. A standard wall socket refills the dual pack in about 2.5 hours, so an evening plug-in delivers a full 180 km by morning. Samui has no public e-scooter charging network, and the Myra does not need one - your accommodation's ordinary socket is the single best charge point on the island. Make overnight charging your routine and the battery never limits your day.
Lifting a Myra battery out to charge indoors is the move I use when parking is far from a socket. Because the packs are removable, I have charged one in a Lamai café and another in a Maenam room while the bike sat outside. If your accommodation's socket is upstairs or distant, bring the battery to the wall rather than the bike. It is heavy, so mind your back - but it means you are never stuck for a place to plug in.
Stopping for a long south-coast lunch near Taling Ngam last season, I plugged a Myra pack in by my table while I ate - a polite request and a meal purchase make it easy on relaxed Samui. Although the Myra's huge range rarely needs a daytime top-up, building one into a lunch stop adds free kilometres and reassurance for an afternoon detour. Treat unhurried meal stops as optional charging stops and the Myra's reach becomes effectively limitless for a single day.
After a season on the Myra my routine is settled: charge full overnight, ride wherever the day leads - usually the long north or south loops - and carry a pack indoors only when parking demands it. I have never sought a public charger or cut a ride short. With 180 km of range and a 2.5-hour charge, riding and charging the Etran Myra on Koh Samui is the simplest part of the trip: plug in at night, then forget the battery exists.
