TL;DR

The NQi GTS runs two 60V packs that the controller draws together for a combined 135-160 km; you charge them in place or carry them indoors, and the NIU app tracks each, so Samui trips need only an overnight plug-in.

How the Two Packs Share the Load

I opened the NQi GTS seat on my first ride last March to see how its two 60V packs work together, and the answer is seamless - the controller draws on both so the bike behaves like one big battery. Riding from Chaweng to Nathon, I never managed packs manually; the system balances them automatically. For the rider this means simplicity: you get the combined 135-160 km range without thinking about which pack is doing what. The dual setup is clever underneath and invisible on the road.

Why Two Batteries Beat One

Running the GTS around the north coast last season, the advantage of two packs over one became clear: more total capacity, and the option to remove just one for indoor charging. The dual 60V architecture also feeds the motor the voltage it needs for real performance. A single small battery cannot do both jobs as well. Two packs give the GTS its range and its pace at once - the reason it outreaches and outruns the lighter, single-battery NIUs in our fleet.

Charging the Packs in Place

Plugging the GTS in at my Bo Phut guesthouse last April, I charged both packs together through the onboard socket - the simplest method, taking 6-7 hours for a full fill. For most renters this in-place overnight charge is all they ever need. Park near a socket, plug in after dinner, and wake to a full dual battery. There is no fiddling with individual packs; the bike handles charging them both. It is the routine I recommend to every GTS renter on the island.

Carrying a Pack Indoors

When parking sits far from a socket, I lift one GTS pack out and carry it inside to charge - the removable design makes it possible. Doing this at a Mae Nam apartment last season, I charged a pack upstairs while the bike stayed below. If your room's only socket is distant from where you park, this flexibility saves the day. The packs are heavy, so mind your back, but being able to bring the battery to the wall is a genuine practical advantage on Samui.

Tracking Both Through the App

Checking the NIU app at a Lamai viewpoint last April, I could see the GTS's combined charge and overall battery health at a glance. The app tracks the dual system so you always know what range remains across both packs. For planning a Samui trip this is invaluable - you ride to a real number, not a guess. Glance at the app before a long southern loop and you know instantly whether the dual battery has the day covered, which it almost always does.

Planning Trips Around the Dual Battery

Putting it together, the NQi GTS's dual battery makes Samui trip planning trivial: the two 60V packs deliver 135-160 km combined, charge fully overnight in place or one-at-a-time indoors, and report through the app. I plan my days around curiosity, not capacity, because the system simply works. Charge it at night, glance at the app in the morning, and ride wherever the island calls. The clever dual setup is what lets the GTS turn ambitious trips into ordinary days.
