French · 7 years on Samui

French motorcycle tour guide living on Koh Samui for 7 years. Marc leads group rides across southern Thailand and knows every road on the island.

TL;DR

Rent the Aerox for Samui day rides because its 155cc pace, planted high-speed stability and frugal tank turn full island loops into genuinely enjoyable riding - the standard scooter that rewards riders who love the road itself.

Because It Makes the Kilometres Fun

I choose the Aerox for my own Samui day rides more often than any other scooter on the lot. Setting out from Chaweng at dawn for a full loop, I want something that makes the kilometres enjoyable rather than merely tolerable, and the 155cc engine delivers exactly that. When a scooter turns a routine Ring Road circuit into a ride I actually look forward to, that alone is reason enough to rent it for a day of exploring.

Because It Never Runs Out of Breath

Covering the long southern stretch past Thong Krut and Taling Ngam, I never feel the Aerox running out of breath the way a 125 does. It holds highway pace with a reserve for overtaking a slow pickup, so I plan bigger days without performance anxiety. For riders who want to see the whole island in one outing rather than a single beach, that sustained cruising ability is the core reason to pick the Aerox.

Because It Shrugs Off Coastal Crosswinds

On breezy afternoons along the exposed west coast toward Nathon, I trust the Aerox's weight and planted chassis to shrug off the crosswinds that unsettle lighter scooters. The stability lets me relax my grip and enjoy the sea views rather than fight the bars. Anyone who has felt a compact scooter twitch in a gust will understand why I rent the Aerox when the day's route runs along Samui's windier open shorelines.

Because the Tank Lasts a Full Day

I comfortably stretch the 5.5-litre tank across a full day's riding, stopping at the PTT near Maenam only once on a complete island loop. The frugal fuel injection keeps running costs modest despite the extra performance, so the sporty engine does not translate into constant refuelling. For a day of real exploring, knowing I can chase roads for hours between fill-ups is a quietly practical reason the Aerox makes sense on Samui.

Because Renters Come Back Grinning

Watching renters hand the Aerox back at our Chaweng shop, I often see them still buzzing from the ride in a way a plain commuter rarely produces. One French couple extended their rental on the spot after a single Lad Koh loop. That reaction - genuine enjoyment rather than mere satisfaction - is something I weigh heavily. Renting a scooter on holiday should add to the trip, and the Aerox reliably turns transport into a highlight.

My Case for Renting the Aerox

For me the case for the Aerox is simple: it is the standard scooter that rewards riding for its own sake on Samui's best roads. I recommend it to any confident visitor who wants pace, stability, and a genuine grin without stepping up to a heavy maxi-scooter. If your holiday plan involves real riding rather than short hops, renting the Aerox is the surest way to make the island's roads part of the fun.
